Amazon-bonnier Battle Goes Public With Protest By European Authors - Csmonitor.com

Many authors fear Amazon will use its dominant position to seek to overturn these moved here laws. There may be more at stake than e-book pricing terms, then, in Bonniers battle with Amazon. Across many European countries, price protections such as laws forbidding deep discounting protect many smaller specialty and boutique publishers publishers that are endangered or simply driven out from the US publishing landscape. In its fight with Amazon, Bonnier and its supporters may be fighting to keep European price protections that protect its publishing industry. As such, the German Publishers and Booksellers Association submitted a complaint to the countrys antitrust authority in June, claiming Amazons dominant position in the e-book market violates competition law. The European Commission has opened preliminary investigations into the complaint. The Amazon-Bonnier battle illustrates German anxiety over Amazons unbridled position in the domestic book market, reports the Times. It shows the public and politicians around the world that this is about more than a dispute over price conditions, Alexander Skipis, president of the publishers association, told the Times.

Latina ladies bare all or pretty much all of their flesh in front of the camera at a rate that puts actresses of other ethnic origins to sad, go sorry shame. Specifically, women of Hispanic origin landed less than five percent of the roles in the movies the USC professors studied but they completely dominated in roles involving nudity or near-nudity. Almost 38 percent of these roles went to Hispanic female thespians. White females actresses got almost three-quarters of the roles in the films but got naked or just about naked a mere 31.9 percent of the time in the movies the professors perused purely out of scholarly devotion. Black people and Asian people got naked at clips of 23.5 and 18.2 percent, respectively. The professors behind the study chose to focus on the lack of Latino actors and actresses getting plum roles, instead of the exciting growth in nude and near-nude appearances by Latinas.
